Cubs Agree to Terms with 12 Players from 2026 Draft
The Chicago Cubs today announced they have agreed to terms with 12 more players from the 2026 MLB Draft, including second round (62nd overall) outfielder Caden Sorrell, second round comp. selection (75th overall) infielder Myles Bailey, fifth round (159th overall) right-handed pitcher Dylan Blomker, sixth round (188th overall) right-handed pitcher Isaac Morton, eighth round (247th overall) right-handed pitcher Lance Williams and ninth round (277th overall) right-handed pitcher Chase Meyer. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
The Cubs also have agreed to terms with left-handed pitcher Brandon Arvidson (12th round), right-handed pitchers Griffin Naess (15th round), Ashton Pocol (16th round) and Ryan Marton (17th round), along with infielder Corey Nunez (14th round) and catcher Brennan Hudson (20th round).
Sorrell, 21, batted .341 (77-for-226) with 20 doubles, one triples, 23 home runs, 76 RBI, 11 stolen bases and a 1.177 OPS. He walked 33 times in 56 games, contributing to a .434 on-base percentage. The left-handed hitting outfielder’s 23 home runs were tied for the fifth-most in a single season in school history, while his team-leading 76 RBI were tied for eighth-most. Across three seasons at Texas A&M, he batted a combined .316 (159-for-503) with 33 doubles, seven triples, 46 home runs, 151 RBI and a 1.094 OPS in 144 games. Sorrell was recommended by area scout Jahli Hendricks.
Bailey, 21, hit .363 (29-for-80) with five doubles, 13 home runs, 33 RBI and a 1.494 OPS in 26 games for Florida State in 2026. He walked 35 times, compared to 30 strikeouts, contributing to a .582 on-base percentage. He was on the Golden Spikes Award midseason watch list and was named to the Midseason All-America First Team by D1Baseball.com and Perfect Game. Bailey was recommended by area scout Ike Ballou.
Blomker, 18, registered a 2.52 ERA (15 ER/53.2 IP), while allowing just 22 hits and striking out 112 batters, good for a 52.6% strikeout rate during his senior season at La Cueva High School in New Mexico. Previously committed to Louisiana State University, He was rated byPerfect Game as the No. 1 right-handed pitcher and 2 overall prospect in the state of New Mexico. Blomker was recommended by area scout Steve McFarland.
Morton, 21, across three seasons at Texas A&M University (2024-25) and the University of Minnesota (2026), went 6-2 with a 3.15 ERA (28 ER/80.0 IP) in 26 games (17 starts). In 2026, he led the Gophers starters in ERA (3.26) and strikeouts (63). The righthander was originally drafted by Milwaukee in the 19th round in 2023 after graduating from Spring Lake Park High School (Minn.). Morton was recommended by area scout Zach Zielinski.
