Cubs Quick Hits: Jake Arrieta’s In-Game Velocity Against Reds

Despite throwing over 1 mph slower this year, Jake Arrieta’s numbers have been phenomenal. While the bearded pitcher has certainly done enough to alleviate concerns regarding velocity, one can only dream of a scenario in which the numbers on the radar gun go back up.

After averaging 93.2 in his previous start, Arrieta averaged 92.9 against the Reds Thursday evening. But he started off exceptionally strong by chucking 94+ mph sinkers consistently in the early part of the game, as illustrated below.
