Cubs Reinstate Dansby Swanson

The Chicago Cubs today reinstated infielder Dansby Swanson from the 10-day injured list. In a corresponding move, infielder BJ Murray, Jr. was optioned to Triple-A Iowa.
Swanson, 32, was placed on the 10-day injured list on August 17 with a left oblique strain. Prior to his placement on the IL, Swanson was hitting .216 (87-for-403) with 16 doubles, three triples, 18 home runs, 66 RBI and 17 stolen bases. His 16 outs above average rank fourth in the majors and second in the National League. This was Swanson’s first IL stint since May 2024 (right knee sprain).
Murray Jr., 26, made his major league debut on September 1 and, in seven games with the Cubs, tallied one hit in 11 at-bats.
The Cubs play the Cincinnati Reds today at 5:40 p.m. CT at Great American Ball Park in a game that can be seen on Marquee Sports Network and heard on 104.3 the Score.
