Chicago Cubs Lineup: Happ Cleanin’ Up & Playing Center Field, Hendricks on Hill
Ian Happ came out of the gate to start his season at Triple-A Iowa with quite a roar, slashing .292/.362/.615 with nine home runs in 104 at-bats. He served notice that he was turning into a guy the Cubs wouldn’t be able to keep in minor league ball for long. Of course, most of us thought that might mean seeing him in Chicago in a couple months or so.
Fast forward to a bumpy start for the Cubs and ailments to Kris Bryant, Jason Heyward, Ben Zobrist and Jon Jay, and suddenly the door was wide open to introduce Happ to the fans at Wrigley Field. And so it goes. He was called up on Saturday and has since slashed .400/.538/1.100 with two home runs (home run number one, home run number two) in only 10 at-bats. So yeah, he’s in the lineup again tonight.
