Injury Update: Cubs Place Jason Heyward on Disabled List with Sprained Finger
This just in, Jason Heyward, who has missed the last two games and was not in tonight’s lineup, has been placed on the DL with what is being described as a right finger sprain. The Cubs have selected the contract of RHP Dylan Floro from the Iowa Cubs.
For Floro, this is his second trip the the Major Leagues. His first trip was a brief stop in Tampa in 2016 where he pitched in 12 games, registering a 4.20 ERA and 14 strikeouts over 15 innings pitched. Over his minor league career, he has a 3.35 ERA with most of his innings coming in a starter roll. Most recently in 2017, Floro has pitched to a 5.06 ERA out of the pen, largely due to an underwhelming 5.06 K/9. The Cubs acquired him off waivers in January 2017 from the Tampa Bay Rays.
