Cubs Quick Hits: Hendricks Threw Slower at the Beginning of Last Year Too

I did a double-take when Kyle Hendricks was barely lighting guns up at 85 mph against the Pirates (4/14) and Brewers (4/19). He clearly didn’t look like himself in those games, and his sinker average of 85.9 mph was down from his usual 88 mph average.

While the sinker-ball pitcher is throwing slower to begin the year, he also threw slower to begin the 2016 season, eventually ramping up to the 88-89 mph range.
