Cubs Clip Fix (3/9/17): Anthony Rizzo Smokes First Spring Home Run, Eloy Jimenez Doubles, and More
It’s starting to heat up in Arizona and that’s always a good thing this time of year. It means Spring Training is just starting to hit it’s stride, there’s more soaring baseballs and more regular starters are starting. That was never more evident than with today’s Chicago Cubs lineup.
Anthony Rizzo certainly didn’t disappoint in his first at-bat, crushing a deep drive to right center for his first home run of the Spring.
Willson Contreras and Taylor Davis combined to score runs. Back-to-back doubles got Contreras home in the 5th, while Davis singled to drive in Contreras in the 7th after he reached on an error.
In the bottom of the 8th inning, Eloy Jimenez, hulking frame towering over home plate, busted a double off the center field wall. He was driven in by Jacob Hannemann’s single.
