Chicago Cubs Score and Recap (7/19/26): Cubs 10, Twins 1 – Hoerner Triple Keys Win
The Cubs had a very impressive outing at Wrigley field on Sunday afternoon, scoring early and often against the Twins. They ended up reaching double digits to win the game and the series rather easily.
Alex Bregman started the offense for Chicago with a two-run homer off of Zebby Matthews in the bottom of the 1st. Carson Kelly added an RBI single to increase the advantage to 3-0 in the 2nd.
Nico Hoerner broke the game open with a three-run triple in the 3rd, and he then came home on an RBI single from Pedro Ramirez that gave the North Siders a 7-0 lead. That was more than enough for Shōta Imanaga, who went seven scoreless innings on Sunday.
The Cubs provided even more insurance with three runs in the bottom of the 4th, including RBI singles from Michael Busch and Hoerner. Minnesota got one back in the 8th, but things were very much decided by then as the home team rolled to a 10-1 victory. (Box score)

The Cubs took advantage of early chances, and the Hoerner triple put things out of reach quickly to give them a relatively stress-free afternoon.

A couple of crooked numbers on the scoreboard and an excellent starting pitching performance did the trick in this one.

Bottom Line
The Cubs continue to win series, which is exactly what they need to do the rest of the way. Hoerner is really starting to feel it, and that is very good news for the second half.
