Chicago Cubs @ Milwaukee Brewers – Series Preview (June 26-28): Overview, Game and Broadcast Info, Starting Pitchers, W2W4

The Cubs (43-37) are on a bit of a streak right now after sweeping the lousy Mets in four games at Citi Field. They have gone 10-3 in their last 13 games despite enduring what can only be described as a biblical plague — which should not be confused with biblical losses — of pitching injuries. Next up is a very difficult challenge against the mighty Brewers in Wisconsin.

Milwaukee (49-29) has shown no signs of cooling down and is 6.5 games ahead of Chicago in the National League Central. The driving force behind their success is the pitching staff, which has a 3.38 team ERA that is higher than only the Yankees among all MLB teams.

The Brewers’ starting rotation has been unbelievable in 2026, especially Cy Young favorite Jacob Misiorowski, who has been basically unhittable the past two months. Kyle Harrison and Brandon Woodruff have also been very difficult to hit as the second and third starters.

Milwaukee’s bullpen is not quite as strong as it has been in previous seasons, but it hasn’t needed to be with the rotation being so good. Trevor Megill and Abner Uribe have been sharing closing duties, though they have not been perfect.

The Crew’s offense has been good but not spectacular, with a .729 team OPS that is 10th-best in MLB. Power has been the one area they are lacking a bit, with just 70 home runs on the season. Of course, more games against the Cubs’ pitching could improve that.

First baseman Jake Bauers is having an excellent season with 14 homers and an .885 OPS. Center fielder Jackson Chourio came back strong after a spring training hamstring injury with 10 home runs out of the leadoff spot for the Brewers.

The North Siders face a tall task in this series, going against Milwaukee’s top three starters without a firm plan as to who they are going to pitch on Saturday and Sunday. It would honestly be an accomplishment if they could grab one of these games and avoid a sweep. That being said, maybe something strange will happen.
