Chicago Cubs Lineup (6/22/26): Same Lineup as Yesterday, Imanaga Pitching, Storms in Forecast

The forecast for Queens tonight is pretty ominous, with a 95% chance of thunderstorms in the 5pm hour becoming an 83% chance of heavy thunderstorms at 6pm. Then there’s a break before more storms roll in throughout the late evening and early morning. As such, it sure looks like the Cubs could see their second game in a row banged due to inclement weather.

That means I’m also going to avoid putting in any real work on a breakdown that will likewise be trashed. Shota Imanaga and Kodai Senga are the scheduled starters, and neither has pitched particularly well this season. Imanaga has at least looked good of late, but Senga has a 9.00 ERA over six starts. He missed nearly two months with lumbar spine inflammation, so this will be just his second outing since being activated earlier in the month.

Senga’s strikeout numbers are fine and his fastball velo is up, but he’s walked 17 batters in 24 innings and has allowed seven homers. This should be a good matchup for a team that has been scoring more runs over the last few games.

Pete Crow-Armstrong is leading off in center, followed by Alex Bregman at third, Michael Busch at first, and Seiya Suzuki at DH. Ian Happ is in left, Matt Shaw is in right, Nico Hoerner is at second, and Carson Kelly does the catching. Dansby Swanson bats ninth at short.

First pitch is set for 6:10pm CT, so maybe they’ll have a window.

Update: The forecast has improved, with the heavy stuff now projected to come in after 8pm EST.
