Chicago Cubs vs Colorado Rockies – Series Preview (June 15-17): Overview, Game and Broadcast Info, Starting Pitchers, W2W4
The Cubs (37-35) won their first series in over a month in San Francisco against the Giants this weekend. The two victories were driven by quality starting pitching efforts and plenty of extra-base power. Now they return home for a series against the same Rockies team they just played in Denver to start the road trip.
Colorado (27-45) dropped two of three to the Athletics in Las Vegas after winning the series against Chicago at Coors Field. They salvaged Sunday’s game with a 23-run scoring outburst aided by the thin desert air of Sin City.
The Rockies’ most potent offensive weapon continues to be catcher Hunter Goodman, who hit a homer against the Cubs and two on Sunday against the A’s. Old friend Willi Castro has been surprisingly productive in 2026 and is on a heater right now.
Colorado’s pitchers were effective in the first two contests against the North Siders, but returned to their normal worst-in-MLB form in the finale. They surrendered 21 runs in the three games against the Athletics and remain incredibly vulnerable.
The Cubs got a disappointing result the last time they played the Rockies, so they need to do better this time. The distinct home-field advantage they enjoyed to start the season has vanished over the past month, but they have a good chance to get it back against a team that should not present as much of a challenge as it did last week.
