Chicago Cubs @ San Francisco Giants – Series Preview (June 12-14): Overview, Game and Broadcast Info, Starting Pitchers, W2W4
The Cubs (35-34) continued to scuffle at the start of the road trip, dropping a series to the last-place Rockies in Denver and briefly dropping to .500 for the season. They are now 3-6 in their long stretch against teams with losing records. Now they head to the Bay Area for their second matchup with the Giants in less than a week.
San Francisco (28-41) returned home and lost two of three to the Nationals after their successful trip to Wrigley Field last weekend. They staged a massive comeback from a 9-1 8th inning deficit on Wednesday to avoid a sweep by Washington.
Luis Arraez and Jung Hoo Lee have been on-base machines so far in 2026 for the Giants. Shortstop Willy Adames has always been a thorn in the Cubs’ side, and Matt Chapman had a huge series last week with two homers and 10 RBI.
Chicago will have to face ace Logan Webb on Sunday after avoiding him last week. San Francisco got pretty good starting pitching in that series, but it has been a struggle for most of 2026. Closer Keaton Winn blew a save Saturday on a home run from Pete Crow-Armstrong.
The Cubs have not won a series since May 7, so it would be very nice if they could finally do that this weekend. Even facing teams with bad records has not been much help for Craig Counsell and company recently, but maybe it’s time for them to shake things up and actually win two of three.
