Matthew Boyd’s Return Pushed Back by Lingering Shoulder Soreness

Well, this is about the least surprising news ever. Matthew Boyd was supposed to return from arthroscopic knee surgery this weekend against the Giants, but he felt soreness in his left shoulder after his last rehab start that lingered through his Tuesday bullpen. It’s unknown exactly how far he’ll be pushed back, but Craig Counsell said they lose a few days from the initial timeline.

“It’s his shoulder,” the manager explained. “We think this is minor, that’s the hope, and we can get back on the mound pretty quickly and not lose a lot of time here.”

Boyd has already missed more than a month with this issue after an earlier IL stint due to his inability to bounce back from starts. At this point, you can expect the next update to be that Boyd’s arm has fallen off completely.
