Cubs Invite Fans to Celebrate Pride Month at Wrigley June 15
We are allies here at Cubs Insider, and we hope you are as well. The Cubs just announced plans for their annual Pride celebration, which will feature special performances and local LBGTQ+ businesses. Details are available in the press release below.
This should go without saying, but past experience has shown that it must be said: Please refrain from any bigotry in the comments.
The Chicago Cubs will celebrate Pride Month at the Friendly Confines Monday, June 15, during the club’s annual Pride Celebration. From vibrant performances and LGBTQ+ owned and friendly businesses at Gallagher Way to special gameday entertainment, fans won’t want to miss this night of pride and community as the Cubs take on the Colorado Rockies at 7:05 p.m. CT. The Cubs will also fly Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride flags at the ballpark throughout June.
“Our annual Pride Celebration is an important opportunity to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community while reinforcing the welcoming, inclusive environment we strive to create at Wrigley Field,” said Cubs Executive Vice President of Marketing and Communications Jen Martindale. “We want every fan who comes through our gates to feel welcomed, valued and part of the Cubs family. We look forward to celebrating with our fans on June 15.”
As the second theme game of the season, the Pride Celebration will take over Gallagher Way with lively music and activities for fans to enjoy. Fans can look forward to performances from the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus and a DJ set by DJ Pedrito, as well as a face painting “glam station” and a photo booth to snap pictures.
Additionally, fans can grab a bite from Taylor’s Tacos, shop stationery from Paper & Pencil and explore offerings from other local LGBTQ+ owned and friendly businesses at Gallagher Way pregame. Play Catch With A Dad, a group of dads who come together to uplift members of the LGBTQ+ community, will also be in attendance to play catch with fans and show support.
The festivities will continue inside the ballpark with gameday elements spotlighting the LGBTQ+ community, including:
- A pregame recognition honoring Center on Halsted, a nonprofit dedicated to advocacy and advancing the health and well-being of the LGBTQ+ community of Chicago and throughout the Midwest.
- Ceremonial first pitches thrown out by Level Sporting Club Founder and CEO Clarissa Flores and content creators Rocco Forgione and Corey Martin, known as the “Rainbow Dads” on social media.
- The Windy City Gay Chorus and Treble Quire from the Windy City Performing Arts singing the national anthem.
Fans interested in attending the Pride Celebration at Wrigley Field are encouraged to purchase a ticket to the June 15 game through the Pride Celebration Special Ticket Offer, which includes a special-edition Cubs Pride jersey featuring a nod to Chicago’s Northalsted neighborhood. A portion of the proceeds from each ticket will benefit Center on Halsted.
