Watch: Nico Hoerner Makes Unreal Between-Legs Throw to First
The Cubs may be mired in an offensive funk, but Nico Hoerner‘s glove still works just fine. Houston’s César Salazar attempted to bunt for a hit to lead off the top of the 5th, and he might have been safe with a mortal playing second. But the Cubs have Hoerner, who fielded the ball cleanly with his bare hand. Then, because he didn’t have time to stop his forward momentum and still make the throw, he simply flipped it between his legs to Michael Busch at first base for the out.

In real time, it’s like watching a magician performing sleight of hand. You know there’s something impressive happening, but it’s done so quickly and subtly that you can’t quite make it out. But when you zoom in and slow it down…wow.
Too bad they don’t get to count that as a run.
