Quantifying Hope: Cubs Plummet to 64% Playoff Odds as Brewers Surge

Two weeks after topping out at a little better than 91% odds of making the playoffs, the Cubs are down to just 64.1% heading into their series with the Astros. That’s the lowest they’ve been since April 20, when they were halfway through the first of their two 10-game streaks. Those were the days, huh?

Listen, it’s almost gametime as I’m typing this and we’ve got a holiday weekend ahead. As such, I’m just going to share the graph and direct you to our latest Rundown for more on how a softer upcoming schedule should be a big help to the Cubs.

I should also mention that Pedro Ramírez making his MLB debut will add a little excitement to this series against the Astros. Everybody loves it when a prospect comes up for the first time, and it provides a little jolt to the other guys in the clubhouse. That’s not to say the rookie will somehow spark a turnaround, but the Cubs could use every ounce of good vibes they can muster right now.
