Porter Hodge to Undergo Season-Ending UCL Surgery
It’s not even surprising at this point. The Cubs announced on Wednesday that righty reliever Porter Hodge, who has been out since spring training with what was being called a flexor strain, will undergo season-ending UCL surgery.
The 25-year-old debuted in 2024 and eventually assumed the closer role, earning nine saves with a 1.88 ERA. He battled health and performance issues last year, however, recording just two saves with a 6.27 ERA. The Cubs added veteran relievers Ty Blach and Paul Campbell on minor league deals recently to rebuild their pitching depth, but they are already behind in the season-long battle of attrition.
