Cubs Recall Gavin Hollowell, DFA Chris Flexen

The Cubs announced two roster moves on Tuesday, once again shaking up their bullpen.

Chris Flexen pitched in 21 games for the Cubs, logging 43.2 innings with 22 strikeouts. He served as a solid option to provide manager Craig Counsell with multiple innings, but he has posted a 7.98 ERA over his last five appearances (14.2 innings).

Gavin Hollowell, called up from Iowa, has performed well during his brief stint in Chicago. The right-hander has a 1.26 WHIP over just 6.1 innings with the big league club. With roster changes expected following the trade deadline, Hollowell’s time in the majors may be short-lived.
