Cubs, Jed Hoyer Reach Multiyear Extension

This is bad news for the Facebook commenters, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise. According to multiple reports, the Cubs and Jed Hoyer have reached a multiyear extension that will secure the executive’s tenure goes well beyond the end of the season.

Hoyer has been in the front office for nearly 15 years and could get close to two decades with his new deal. In addition to stewarding the big league club back to contention while rebuilding the farm system, Hoyer’s consistent fiscal responsibility surely appeals to ownership.
