Chicago Cubs Score and Recap (5/3/25): Cubs 6, Brewers 2 – PCA Homers Again in Win

The Cubs took on the Brewers Saturday night after a blowout 10-0 win on Friday. Chicago had the home run swing working again and hit three more as they won the game and the series.

The North Siders picked up a 1st inning run on former teammate José Quintana when Justin Turner hit an RBI single. The Brew Crew got that tally back off of Jameson Taillon when Brice Turang singled home Jackson Chourio in the bottom of the 3rd.

The Cubs got runners on the corners with two outs for Pete Crow-Armstrong in the top of the 4th. PCA connected with an outside fastball from Quintana and drove it over right field wall for a go-ahead three-run homer. Dansby Swanson followed with a solo shot to make it back-to-back dingers and put the road team on top 5-1.

Rhys Hoskins responded in the bottom of the frame, taking Taillon deep to cut Milwaukee’s deficit to 5-2. Kyle Tucker blasted Chicago’s third homer to restore the four-run lead in the 5th.

The bullpen was very sharp the final three innings as the Cubs sealed the 6-2 victory. (Box score)

Key Moment

Crow-Armstrong turned a tie game into a comfortable Cubs lead with a single swing of the bat in the 4th.

Why the Cubs Won

Another game with multiple home runs and a quality starting pitching effort continues to be a winning formula.

Stats That Matter

  • Taillon has been excellent in his last few starts: 6 IP, 2 R, 3 H, 5 K, 1 BB.
  • PCA is an extra-base machine right now and is on pace for over 30 home runs.
  • Swanson has at least one hit in every game he’s played hitting eighth in the lineup.

Bottom Line

It’s very refreshing to see the Cubs playing so well and winning a series in Milwaukee. The former Miller Park has been a very difficult environment for the North Siders since 2018, so a great performance is a very positive sign going forward. The power potential for this lineup as the temperatures go up this summer is astronomical.

On Deck

The Cubs try for the sweep Sunday at 1:10pm CT with Shōta Imanaga on the hill. The Brewers counter with Freddy Peralta in a game available on Marquee with radio coverage on 670 The Score.
