Chicago Cubs Lineup (2/21/25): Happ Leads Off, PCA Bats Cleanup, Wicks Pitching
The Cubs are back in action for their second game of the spring and first at home, which means more regulars in the lineup. They also have local broadcast coverage since they’re at Sloan, so that’s nice. My favorite part of early spring training is just that it’s about the only time all year when fans are (almost) universally optimistic
Today’s game sees Ian Happ leading off in left, with Dansby Swanson at short and Seiya Suzuki in right. Pete Crow-Armstrong cleans up, mainly so he can get in an at-bat or two before departing, Miguel Amaya is the catcher, and Jon Berti is at third. Vidal Bruján plays second, Jonathon Long is at first, and Gage Workman is the DH after hitting the Cubs’ first homer of the spring yesterday.
Jordan Wicks is on the bump in an attempt to earn a role in the rotation, and fans will get their first look at a slimmed-down version of the lefty. My personal preference would be for Ben Brown to get the nod as a starter, but we’ll have a wait a few weeks to see how it all plays out.
Going for the Dodgers is Tony Gonsolin, who I’m not going to bother providing any information on just yet due to the abbreviated nature of this appearance. We’ll dig deeper on the opposing starters once the game start to matter more.
First pitch is at 2:05pm CT on Marquee and 670 The Score.
