Chicago Cubs Lineup (8/22/24): Steele Starting Series Finale
We’re taking a trip to Lazytown with this one, folks. The series finale marks the third time the Tigers have not named a starter until much closer to gametime than usual, plus the Cubs aren’t playing good enough baseball to merit much analysis. This is one of those games you’re only watching if you’ve got absolutely nothing better to do.
Justin Steele might make it somewhat worthwhile, as is the case when the staff ace takes the mound. It would be even better if the bats actually got going early and took some of the drama out of the results, but that might be too much to ask.
Detroit’s starter was still TBD as of me typing this and I won’t have the time or inclination to look anything up by the time they do. Besides, a bullpen game means the first pitcher they use could be the least consequential of the bunch. I get it if you’re pressed into piecing a game together with bubble gum and duct tape now and then, but I find it objectionable that the Tigers have done that all series.
Oh well, maybe those who tune in will be treated to something resembling good baseball. First pitch is at 1:20pm CT on Marquee and 670 The Score.
