Chicago Cubs Lineup (6/5/21): Pederson Leads Off, Heyward Returns, Stewart Makes Second Start

Joc Pederson is leading off in left field, Kris Bryant is in center, Javy Báez is at short and Anthony Rizzo is at first. Willson Contreras is behind the plate, Jason Heyward has been activated and is in right, Patrick Wisdom is at third, and Eric Sogard is at second.

Nick Martini was designated for assignment to make room on the roster for Heyward.

Kohl Stewart looked great in his first Cubs start and it’d sure be nice to get a repeat in this one. The former No. 4 overall draft pick has all kinds of talent and said the Cubs’ development staff and overall vibe has really helped him since coming over.

Opposing him is 30-year-old righty Kevin Gausman, who is making the qualifying offer look like a great deal. He’s currently 6-0 with a 1.40 ERA and 83 strikeouts against just 16 walks in 70.2 innings. That’s a pretty solid line and it’s going to be tough for the Cubs to get a W.

First pitch is at 4:15pm CT on FOX and 670 The Score.
