Cubs Place Joc Pederson on IL, Recall Nico Hoerner
The Cubs have placed Joc Pederson on the 10-day injured list retroactive to April 21 with left wrist tendinitis and recalled infielder Nico Hoerner from the South Bend Alternate Site. After tearing up spring training, Pederson is hitting just .137 with a triple, a home run, and four RBI in 16 games.
Hoerner likewise tore up the competition in Mesa but he’s had very little experience as a pro and has to work on some approach issues in order to realize his full potential. Of course, the Cubs haven’t gotten much production out of the second base spot as it is and can’t really take a step back in that regard.
Hoerner is available for Thursday’s game against the Mets.
