Chicago Cubs Lineup (3/15/21): Marisnick in RF, Sogard at SS, Mills Makes Third Start

It’s not Hump Day, but Ian Happ leads off in center as the Cubs head to Camelback Ranch to face the White Sox. Willson Contreras handles the catching duties, Joc Pederson is in left, and Cameron Maybin is the DH. Jake Marisnick makes his Cubs Cactus League debut after a strong showing in Saturday’s simulated game.

David Bote bats sixth at second, Eric Sogard is at short, Matt Duffy is at first, and Ildemaro Vargas mans the hot corner.

Alec Mills is looking more and more like a part of the rotation as he continues to pitch well this spring, but we’re still only halfway through. A lot of it could come down to whether or not Adbert Alzolay still has a minor league option and what some of the other fringe pitchers end up doing. More of it is about Mills himself, though, and he’s more than comfortable succeeding in an underdog role.

Big lefty Brad Wieck is expected to make his first appearance of the year after getting a late start due to a hamstring issue. He had a setback last year due to a heart ablation procedure and subsequent issues led to him logging only one inning in 2020.

First pitch is set for 3:05pm CT on MLB.com and ESPN 1000, where you can hear Len Kasper on the call.
