Chicago Cubs Lineup (3/5/21): Rizzo Leads Off, Davis in CF, Mills on Mound
Anthony Rizzo leads off Friday afternoon as the Cubs look to continue their unbeaten ways in Mesa. He’ll be followed by Willson Contreras at catcher and Joc Pederson at DH. Kris Bryant cleans up at third, Javy Báez is at short, and Jason Heyward is in right.
Cameron Maybin handles the left field duties, Nico Hoerner is at second as he tries to continue his hot hitting with a more open stance, and top prospect Brennen Davis gets the start in center. It’ll be fun to see him getting at least two plate appearances in this one.
Alec Mills is on the mound for the first time this spring as he makes a case for a return to the rotation. Even if there’s not much to take away from these initial abbreviated outings, look to see how his slow curve is working and check out that closed landing with his front foot.
First pitch is set for 2:05pm CT and the game can be seen on Marquee Sports Network. If you don’t have access to Marquee, MLB Network will carry a replay later in the day.
