Cubs Among World Series Odds Leaders
PECOTA might not like the Cubs very much, but that hasn’t stopped the folks in Vegas from installing the northernmost Chicago team as one favorites in the NL. At 12/1 odds to win the 2019 World Series, the Cubs trail only the Dodgers (9/1) and Phillies (10/1) and come in sixth overall in MLB.

Those of you viewing from work may not be able to see the included graphic, so I’ll just let you know that the Yankees lead the way (6/1), followed by the Red Sox and Astros (both 7/1). The Brewers and Cardinals (14/1) are both right behind the Cubs, with the Reds (33/1) and Pirates (66/1) lagging behind. Take that, stupid computer projections!
Of course, these betting lines are anything but subjective and are designed to generate as many wagers as possible across each team. That said, it’s really interesting to see the Phillies with such good odds while the Padres and Giants (both 66/1) are hanging way back toward the bottom. For what it’s worth, the White Sox (33/1) trail only the Indians (16/1) in the AL Central.
Now just watch what happens when Bryce Harper and Manny Machado sign. Well, unless that’s already factored in here.
