Chicago Cubs Lineup: Murph Leads Off, Willy the Beast Cleans Up, Boat at 3B, Hendo Pitching
Murph leads off at second base, El Mago is at short, Tony is at first, and Willy the Beast is cleaning up. J-Hey is in right, Boat is at third, Schwarbs is in left, and Tico mans center.
Hendo has a chance to pitch the Cubs to a sweep, which would certainly wash the residual bile from the Cubs’ total failure in Cincy earlier this season completely away. He gave up a season-high 10 hits in Detroit when he last took the bump, but his recent results have generally been better than the box scores indicate.
If Hendo has the curve and change working, there’s little the Reds lineup is going to be able to do to him. And if the Cubs keep hammering the ball around the park like they have over the last few games, he doesn’t even have to be at his best.
If the Cubs do indeed go deep, it’ll be against the most appropriately nicknamed pitcher in MLB. Homer Bailey is using his first name as his last this weekend, so here’s to hoping the Cubs really make him deserve it. He’s allowed twenty of himself already in only 91.1 innings this season as the result of giving up a ton of hard contact.
Though the Cubs did not go deep against Homer when they faced him back in May, they did tag him for half a dozen runs. Dude’s stuff is just not there and he’s got a 1.62 WHIP despite not walking many batters, so there’s no excuse to not go off in this one.
First pitch is once again set for 1:20pm CT and will be carried by WGN and 670 The Score.
Here is today's #Cubs starting lineup against the #Reds.
