The silky-smooth violence of Javy Baez’s swing has created results that make you marvel not only at what you just saw, but at what could be. Not many second basemen display the kind of mammoth 70/80 power El Mago can generate. Heck, not many players in the league, period, display that much power potential.

Going into Tuesday’s game against the Reds, Javy has the best HR/PA rate (5.2 percent) among all MLB second basemen. And his HR/FB rate (21.5 percent) is the highest among all qualified middle infielders and ranks 29th in all of baseball.
