Watch: Cubs Get Walkoff Win on Wild Pitch to End Crazy Game
The Cubs got a walkoff win against the Reds tonight in what was the baseball equivalent of an emotional rollercoaster.
The Reds scored in the 1st inning to take an early lead. Then Anthony Rizzo hit a grand slam (watch that here) to put the Cubs in front. They eventually tacked on another pair of runs, but Cincy scored five between the 7th and 8th innings to tie the game. Joe Maddon got ejected in the bottom of the 9th inning because of a terrible call on Ben Zobrist. Finally, with two outs and Kris Bryant at the plate, Javy Baez scored on a wild pitch to win the game.
It was fun and strange and I’m sure glad the Cubs won it.
