Cubs Roster Update: Eddie Butler To Be Called Up, Start Friday
The speculation as to who will take Brett Anderson’s rotation spot can rest, for now. In a move widely speculated, including right here, Eddie Butler will be called up to start against the Cardinals on Friday. The Cubs have not announced a corresponding move for Butler and will likely wait until Friday to do so.

Butler has posted a 1.17 ERA in five starts for AAA Iowa, logging 30.2 IP with a 17:8 K:BB ratio. Our own Brendan Miller wrote about how Butler intrigued him back in Spring Training, and it will be interesting to see if the former top prospect can seize the opportunity left by Anderson. Luckily for Butler, the bar hasn’t been set so high.
