Watch: Arrieta Says Floro Was Bright Spot in Game
In a nice turn of events for a Cubs pitching staff that has been taxed to its limits over the last week or so, the visitors only needed to use two pitchers for Game 1 of a doubleheader in Denver. Of course, that was because they were already in a massive hole before the 4th inning had concluded.
“I didn’t think it was good, really at all,” Jake Arrieta told the media in the locker room after Tuesday afternoon’s debacle. “Just too many hittable pitches in the middle of the plate.”
There was, however, one big positive in a contest that saw the former Cy Young winner allow 9 runs (5 earned) in only 3.2 innings.
“The bright spot: Dylan (Floro) came in and pitched really well.”
