Chicago Cubs Lineup: Arrieta Makes 100th Cubs Start, Montero Catching

There wasa little surprise when Willson Contreras made up the other half of the battery during Jake Arrieta’s first start, but it’s back to the standard setup this afternoon. Miguel Montero is behind the plate for the rubber game in Milwaukee, which sees Arrieta flipped with Jon Lester in the rotation.

Keep an eye on the former Cy Young winner’s velocity, which was down noticeably last week in St. Louis. Was that a product of wonky data collection or of a different — and differing — release point? Or was it by design? This start will give more insight.

The top of Sunday afternoon’s lineup remains pretty much unchanged as the Cubs look to get their mashers all on the same page for once. It’s scary to think that they still haven’t really hit on all barrels yet, despite Saturday’s 17-hit outburst.

First pitch is at 1:10 CT and will be aired on WGN, which means those of you outside the greater Chicago area may want to consult this guide to local affiliates. As always, 670 The Score will carry the dulcet tones of Patrick Hughes and the Coom Dawg.
