Introducing ‘Pitch Track,’ A New Way to Visualize Pitch Movement

Statcast changed the way we view baseball. “How hard and high did he hit that homer?” I asked myself when Jake Arrieta mashed yet another homer into the night. I instantly got my answer when Statcast uploaded its video version of the blast. But we haven’t had videos to answer questions like, “How much did Arrieta’s slider move and is the movement really good?”

Now we do. *drumroll*

Cubs Insider would like to formally introduce you to Pitch Track, our proprietary video clips that include the amount of pitch movement and how that movement compares to the rest of MLB. Think of these like Statcast videos for pitches. Here’s an example:
