Watch: Kris Bryant Laces League-Leading 33rd Home Run

Earlier in the evening, the Rockies’ Nolan Arenado hammered his 33rd home run to take a brief lead over Kris Bryant. Maybe someone got word to the future NL MVP, because when he came up in the top of the 3rd he was ready to even the score.

Normally prone to launching towering moonshots with that haymaking uppercut stroke, Bryant leveled out and lined a Christian Friedrich fastball just over the wall in left and into the waiting glove of a young Cubs fan.

That shot was Bryant’s fifth in the last six games and he’s now batting .300 on the season. Not that the batting average is incredibly important, just that it’s cool to see that round number up there.

Speaking of players riding incredible hot streaks, Addison Russell got into the longball action Tuesday night as well. Thing is, doesn’t have the embed code available yet, so you’ll just have to click to watch Russell’s 406-foot bomb. That was his 19th of the year and his fifth in five games, and Russell is now hitting over .250 on the season.

I shudder to think what the Cubs can do if Russell keeps displaying this pop on a consistent basis and if Jason Heyward continues to pick things up.
