Cubs Clips: WATCH the Crowd Go Nuts After Coghlan Slaps Game-Tying Single
If you didn’t get to watch the game, or even if you did, you can read all about it here. A lot happened and in the end the Cubs pulled out the win.
One of the most pivotal plays in the game occurred when Chris Coghlan came up in the bottom of the sixth inning with the bases loaded and two outs. The count was full and he called for time out. Home plate umpire, Ron Kulpa, declined his request. Cardinals pitcher, Carlos Martinez threw a pitch as Coghlan was starting to step out of the box. He managed to get his bat into position and slashed an incredible two-run single into center field.
Here’s video I recorded from the stands, along with TV video of the play. It was a great moment, for sure.
What I want to know is why was that guy holding a flip-flop in his hand as he cheered?? I digress. Here is the TV video, sans guy celebrating by waving his flip-flop in the air.
