Jake Arrieta Picks Up Right Where He Left Off (Video)
If there were any questions about whether offseason rust or talk of an impasse in contract negotiations would negatively impact Jake Arrieta’s performance, he took a big step toward answering them on Wednesday against the Indians. While he only went two innings, Arrieta was on point — if perhaps not quite as efficient as the MLB Gameday feature would have you believe — from the start.
But even though Arrieta actually threw 31 pitches instead of the 14 that I saw online, six up, six down with four strikeouts, no walks, and no hits translated just fine. He also touched 96 mph on the gun, according to Jesse Rogers, which is a really nice sign.
Of course, not everything was moving that fast.

I make no apologies to the friends and loved ones who will be without your presence and/or attention as you stare at this magnificence for the remainder of the day. In fact, I think you should thank me. Heck, knowing you, your friends and loved ones should probably thank me too.
