Schwarber Out at Least Another 3-5 Days
Kyle Schwarber will be re-evaluated in 3-5 days. Won't play before then, right rib soreness

It’s not the news we were hoping for, but it’s not the worst possible scenario, either. I’d be far more concerned had the Cubs been more concrete in terms of a diagnosis. Of course, we’re also in the expanded-roster portion of the season so a DL stint is not necessary. Were this earlier in the season, we might have already gotten more solid information.
Given what little we do know at this point, I’m still sticking with the theory that Schwarber’s awkward landing (above) is the cause of the discomfort. Even though he was able to hit a home run later in the game, it’s certainly possible the soreness manifested itself later. I know I’ve personally had many experiences in which something that seemed insignificant at the time blossomed into something larger hours later.
For now, we’ve just got to remain calm and assume that the Cubs are simply taking it easy with their rookie slugger so as not to exacerbate anything. Better safe than sorry, in other words. More on this situation as it becomes available.
